"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness."
2 Corinthians 9:10
When we are a blessing someone, we do not know the ripple effect that it can have. A few weeks back, I was walking in through the doors of ACF and asked, “God, will you show yourself to me today?” I don’t ask it often, but I’m so glad I did that day. I pushed the doors open and prepared for worship since I was on keys that Sunday.
Something beautiful happened. I watched a girl get baptized, and I recognized her friend who embraced her afterwards. I was immediately brought to tears and had to look away so that my fingers would keep moving on stage. I knew that girl! Of all places, we met at a brewery when she recognized an ACF shirt I was wearing.
“Do you go to ACF?” She asked. “I do!” I responded. She went on to tell me that she had been watching online but had never gone in person. I asked her if she would like to visit in person, and if so, I could sit with her. We all know going somewhere for the first time can be scary. That next Sunday, we sat together and then she decided to make ACF her home church. I really never thought much of it again. Inviting her was easy, and I soon forgot about it at all. Well, then she invited a good friend of hers to join her as well, and only a few weeks later, that friend got baptized.
God answered my prayer in a more beautiful way than I could have imagined on the same morning that I prayed for Him to speak to me. When we sow a seed into someone, whether big or small, we are not capable of understanding the ripple effect that it has, and He was gracious to demonstrate it to me. When we are available to God and plant seeds where He asks us to, he multiplies and increases the harvest. I went on as normal the next few weeks, but that tiny seed planted birthed into a life for His Kingdom! It was a simple moment, but it was also a really huge moment. All I did was invite someone to sit with me at church and it resulted in someone I don’t even know being baptized.
That day, I was reminded that sometimes it’s the really small things that can have a really big impact, and I hope that you are encouraged that no matter how you’ve sown seeds, God moves powerfully in ways that we will not always see. Be encouraged today that God is with you in the small things. When you plant a seed, growth is inevitable with our God.
I encourage you to ask God to speak to you in some way today and to reveal Himself to you. It’s amazing the ways that He speaks to us! God supplies the seed and then multiples it when we sow it. Amen!
Lord,
Thank You that You use broken people to do Your perfect will. Thank You for allowing me to be a part of Your plan. Please open my eyes to opportunities to love people in Your name. Please show Yourself to me today. Please teach me how You are calling me to sow Your seeds.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
